January 2014

THANK YOU from The Christmas Bag Ministry 2013...

Just before Christmas, we arrived at the infectious disease hospital in Timisoara, normally the doctors don't like to keep anyone in over Christmas as the conditions are so poor and they are severely understaffed. However, when we arrived on the third floor it was busy as usual...we could hear voices coming from each room. The first room we entered we spent some time with Lacri, she is from a small and very poor city hours away from Timisoara. Her son died of AIDS last year and she needs help now with getting treatment for herself. We were able to encourage her for a time and offer our help. The next door we knocked on had a man lying on his bed, he is very ill, almost gone. His wife invited us in and asked if we came to visit them...she thought we had made a mistake. You see no one visits the AIDS wing...her smile was HUGE and God gave us the chance to spend a few minutes in their lives, and have the privilege of sharing Jesus with these special hurting people. As we knocked on the third door we were sad to find 3 little boys, all around 5-6 years of age, each with an IV in their arm. They had big smiles for us as they played a game on one of the beds. The room was full of adults too and we could see the fear and suffering in each of their eyes, afraid of what is before them as they try to be strong for their little boys. We brought Christmas bags in with us and everyone got a present... each little boys eyes lit up as they opened their gifts, excited to play with bats and balls and to color a picture. Thank you for the gifts you have given, the money that you send and the prayers that you whisper on behalf of these little ones, God is changing so many lives, some at the very end and others at the start of their journey.

Press On...

As we begin a New Year at the JP, we look to the future and the Hope that can only be found in the Lord Jesus Christ. Now is not the time for the faint of heart… more than ever before the World is in desperate need of the Savior. We are already seeing more and more cases of HIV/AIDS coming through the Day Center and Hospital doors… so much suffering and despair. Desperation keeps knocking at our doors and what a privilege it is to comfort and love these precious souls into the Arms of God.
